  • Collision mitigation braking - Another Chevy first: Radar technology detects a possible crash threat and alerts the driver. If the driver does not appear to react quickly enough or doesn't react at all, this feature intervenes to apply the brakes in an effort to avoid the crash.
  • Forward collision alert - Camera technology detects a possible crash threat and alerts the driver, giving him or her time to stop and/or change course.
  • Lane departure warning - A camera-based lane detection system warns the driver of impending lane changes. The camera, mounted near the inside rearview mirror, identifies traffic lane markings and provides audible alerts.
  • Side blind zone alert - Using radar sensors on both sides of the vehicle, the system "looks" for other vehicles in the blind zone areas of the Impala and indicates their presence with LED-lit symbols in the outside mirrors.
  • Rear cross traffic alert - Based on the radar sensors of side blind zone alert, it warns the driver of vehicles in traffic when backing out of a parking spot - including angled parking. Visual and audible alerts are triggered if moving vehicles are detected.
  • Rear vision camera with dynamic guidelines - With a display in the center stack infotainment system, the camera provides a view of objects directly behind the Impala, while the dynamic guidelines provide a reference that helps make parking and other maneuvers easier.
  • Ultrasonic rear park assist - Uses sensors in the rear bumper to detect objects directly behind the vehicle and alerts the driver.
  • Brake pre-fill feature - To quicken the response time of the brakes and help shorten stopping distances, this features "loads" the brake calipers in anticipation of hard braking by slightly increasing the hydraulic pressure in the brake lines whenever the driver lifts off the accelerator pedal. This feature is included on models equipped with adaptive cruise control and collision mitigation breaking.
  • Hill hold/start assist - Applies the brakes for about 1.5 seconds to prevent roll-back when the driver moves his or her foot from the brake to the accelerator pedal.
The advanced, crash-avoidance technologies complement the 2014 Chevy Impala's occupant protection features, including 10 standard air bags:

Having defined the original crossover template in 2007, Nissan is taking the sector to a new level thanks to bold design, highly advanced engineering, intelligent technology and remarkable attention to detail. New from the ground up, the new 2014 Nissan Qashqai is much more than just a rework of its ground-breaking predecessor. The second-generation model is 20mm wider, 49mm longer and 15mm lower than the current car. Yet despite this reduction in height, front and rear headroom levels have actually increased by 10mm and the raised driving position remains.



Integrating advanced technology can often prove a challenge for designers, but not so for the team responsible for the 2014 Nissan Qashqai. By working closely with engineers, they were able to incorporate new technology without compromising the car's bold design. For example, while most manufacturers are content to incorporate their radar systems into ugly assemblies mounted in the bumper or front grille openings, Nissan has been able to relocate the 2014 Nissan Qashqai radar behind the bumper facia to give the car a smoother look.



Nissan has always believed that form must match function, and this thinking has been taken to a new level with the second-generation 2014 Nissan Qashqai. Take, for example, the car's aerodynamic profile. Not only does the new 2014 Nissan Qashqai deliver a dynamic and bold new look, it also cuts through the air with greater efficiency than ever before thanks to a drag co-efficient of 0.32. In creating the new Qashqai, the design and engineering teams studied every surface and detail. From the elements on show (such as the roof spoiler with winglets) to those hidden away (like the unique flat floor design), the Qashqai features some of the most advanced aerodynamic features to appear on a family car. The result is reduced drag, lower CO2 emissions, improved fuel consumption and greater stability at speed.



Versatility is another area where the new 2014 Nissan Qashqai excels. No area of the car's interior was overlooked in the pursuit of increased flexibility and better practicality. The boot, for example, has a luggage capacity of 430 litres with the rear seats in position - an improvement of 20 litres over the outgoing Qashqai. This puts the new 2014 Nissan Qashqai even further ahead of its C-segment rivals - with the likes of the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf offering significantly less luggage space. Load space flexibility has also been improved with a tailgate that now opens 150mm higher and includes a dual-floor system designed to provide a flexible and versatile load space. The two reversible floor panels can easily be raised or lowered providing 16 possible configurations to either maximise luggage volume or provide a full flat floor with rear seats folded. Additionally the rear board easily slots into a vertical position providing an ideal sized space for carrying shopping bags. Furthermore the load cover fits neatly under the luggage floor allowing bulky items to be loaded. The luggage boards feature a wipe-clean surface on one side and soft carpet on the other, so muddy boots can be transported without fear of damaging the textile surfaces.



A great cabin starts with great seats, and Nissan has worked hard to ensure that the secondgeneration 2014 Nissan Qashqai is even more comfortable for passengers. During the design stage, engineers used advanced medical scanning techniques and were inspired by NASA to analyse pressure and blood flow in the lower back of seated passengers. By redesigning elements and improving support in key areas, they were able to create a seat that offered even support. The highly advanced new Qashqai seat offers special support thanks to additional bolsters in the pelvis, lumbar and chest areas. The result is a seat that delivers long-distance comfort.



Combining conventional passenger car efficiency with the sense of adventure of an SUV has always been a key part of the appeal of crossovers. A range of supremely efficient and refined petrol and diesel engines allows the new Qashqai to exceed the expectations of drivers no matter which powertrain is chosen. Nissan believes that advanced technology should be available to all customers. The 1.2-litre DIG-T is an Alliance-developed engine tuned specifically by Nissan for the new Nissan Qashqai. Its lower weight and more fuel-efficient operation also means that the entry-level petrol Qashqai is considerably cleaner and more economical than the model it replaces. The 1.2 DIG-T engine emits 129g/km of CO2 (15g/km less than the outgoing 1.6-litre petrol unit), and has a fuel consumption figure of 5.6 l/100km (0.6 l/100 improvement over the outgoing 1.6-litre).



Underneath the new 2014 Nissan Qashqai sleek body is a new modular platform that has been tailored specifically for the second-generation crossover. The highly advanced, Alliance-developed structure is one of the most adaptable platform systems in existence, giving designers and engineers the opportunity to perfectly tailor the car to customer needs. The vast majority of the new Qashqai's upper body was designed and engineered in Europe. As a result, the new Qashqai feels perfectly at home on European roads, with ride and handling standards that exceed sector expectations in every area.



During development stages of the Qashqai, every element of the car's dynamic package was examined to see if improvements could be made. The steering, for example, has been completely redesigned and re-engineered, with a new Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) steering introduced across the range. The system has been tuned with a new control logic that delivers a more natural driving experience, thanks in part to a five per cent reduction in overall steering ratio to improve responsiveness.

However, a significantly longer wheelbase (increased by 178mm) provides greater room and improved access for rear passengers. The new Sport is 149mm shorter and 55mm lower than the new Range Rover on which it is based and model-for-model weighs 45kg less. The new Range Rover Sport has a bold and progressive exterior design which positions the vehicle confidently within the latest Range Rover line-up. With a fresh interpretation of the current model's strong design DNA, the new vehicle has a sleek and contemporary appearance, with its sloping roofline offering a distinctive sporting character.

Near-flush side glazing, combined with a premium gloss black finish to the pillars, enhance the bold Range Rover Sport floating roof graphic - which can be highlighted with three contrast roof colours of grey, black or silver - while also emphasising the more streamlined form of the body. Brembo brake calipers finished in red and a Black Pack, which removes all brightwork from the exterior, are also available to create a more bespoke appearance.
  • At the front, the large outboard air intakes and bold trapezoidal shapes housing the central bumper beam and skid plate send out a strong, high performance message. The same trapezoidal theme is repeated at the rear, with the skid plate flanked by large twin exhaust outlets.
  • The front lamps continue the bold evolution of the Sport, with highly distinctive LED signature graphics which feature a new distinctive graphic. The slimmer design creates a more aggressive, technical appearance.
  • At the rear, the lamps have a more compact treatment with a striking new design that uses LED technology. The main tail and stop lamps echo the headlamps' distinctive design language, while the direction indicators use a new interpretation of the 'twin line' graphic from the current model.
  • Both front and rear lamps flow round into the shoulders of the body with the distinctive tapering blade graphic featured on the other vehicles in the latest Range Rover portfolio.

More powerful models are equipped with a dedicated Dynamic modein the Terrain Response® 2 system, providing a more sporting bias during enthusiastic on-road driving, with a firmer ride, tighter body control, reduced roll and more responsive steering and performance.



For the first time on Range Rover Sport on 2014 Land Rover Range rover Sport, high series models feature the state-of-the-art 12.3-inch high-resolution display technology for the main instrument pack, as pioneered by the Range Rover. This is accompanied by an 8-inch high-resolution touchscreen display on the centre console for infotainment and secondary functions, with optional Dual View. The screen graphics on both displays have been ingeniously designed to create the impression of 3D surfaces, beautifully lit and with subtle chrome detailing. Each display is able to adapt its content according to the driving situation - for example, in Dynamic mode, the two primary dials in the 12.3-inch display adopt a sporting red colour scheme, with the current gear position presented prominently between the two dials. The Hybrid model will have its own unique display content, with an easy-to-understand power gauge.

The dramatic weight reduction was achieved through an incredibly rigorous development and optimisation process in which every possible weight saving opportunity was aggressively pursued. Key weight-saving technologies in the vehicle include:
  • All-aluminium door construction, including high performance lightweight aluminium side intrusion beams
  • All-new lightweight front and rear suspension design with all-aluminium front and rear subframes
  • Optimised spring, damper and anti-roll bar designs
  • All-new lightweight aluminium final drive units and optimised driveline components including new single-speed 4WD system with Torsen differential
  • High precision lightweight magnesium castings used for the cross car beam and front end carrier
  • SMC plastic tailgate
  • Lightweight high-strength steel seat structures
Special aerodynamic innovations optimised during development were:
  • Active vanes - the new Sport features active vanes in the main upper grille aperture, which improve aerodynamics by blanking off the grille when cooling airflow is not required. Electronically controlled, they automatically adjust to one of 16 positions. Standard on TDV6, SDV6, SDV8 and Hybrid models (Europe region).
  • Aerodynamic underfloor panelling - more extensive lightweight panelling has been incorporated to create a smooth, flat profile under the vehicle. Additional deflectors have been added around the front and rear suspension components, with front and rear undertrays around the main driveline components.
  • Enhanced air flow - detail features to improve air flow include near-flush glazing on the A-pillars and vehicle side glass; separation edges incorporated in the rear lamps and D-pillars; optimised shaping of the door mirrors and upper rear spoiler.
  • Unique 21-inch alloy wheels - on the Hybrid vehicle with directional spokes for optimised aerodynamics.
  • Careful attention has also been given to water management on the vehicle, including a hydrophobic coating on the front side door glass to help keep it clear of droplets, carefully shaped roof panels to avoid unwanted drips when the tailgate is opened, and a rear wash wipe which is designed to avoid annoying drips.
The 510PS 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine retains its place at the performance pinnacle of the Range Rover Sport line-up. With huge reserves of power and torque, the scale of the performance on offer is reflected in the 0-60mph time of sub-5.0 seconds (0.9 seconds faster than the outgoing model) - achieved with a rich sporting soundtrack generated by a carefully tuned exhaust system and sound symposer on the intake system. Despite the performance boost, fuel efficiency has been improved by 14 percent over the outgoing model, with CO2 emissions of 298g/km. For the first time, the engine is fitted with an advanced intelligent Stop/Start system.

The new 2014 Land Rover Range rover Sport is packed with smart, relevant technologies to ensure that drivers enjoy a relaxed and stress-free experience behind the wheel. The new model introduces an innovative digital camera system which supports three driver assistance features that help deliver improved driver awareness. Mounted next to the rear view mirror, the forward facing camera captures a view of the road ahead which is analysed by a sophisticated on-board computer. The new feature is enabled by the addition of extra distance sensors on the vehicle (now 6 sensors front and rear, instead of 4), which provide wider coverage around the vehicle than conventional park distance sensors.

The new Range Rover Sport's electric power-assisted steering also enables customers to benefit from a range of advanced Park Assist features, including:
  • Park Assist - which helps to identify a suitable parallel parking space, and then automatically steers the vehicle into place
  • Park Exit - which helps drivers exit tight parallel parking spaces, by automatically steering the vehicle back into the main carriageway
  • Perpendicular Park - which extends the function of the system to help the driver to reverse into perpendicular spaces, using sensors to help identify a suitable space where the vehicle can be parked and the doors on each side opened safely
  • Each of the functions provides the driver with clear instructions via the cluster display, and uses the Park Distance Controls, Flank Guard and Camera systems (where fitted) to help warn the driver of objects in close proximity during the manoeuvre. Multiple shuttles back and forward may be required to complete the manoeuvres safely and accurately.


The new 2014 Land Rover Range rover Sport offers a number of advanced new Land Rover customer support features, with a range of valuable services to enhance safety, convenience and security. The features, which utilise a telematics module and mobile SIM chip, plus the vehicle's GPS locator, include:
  • Emergency Call - provides the ability to notify emergency services either automatically, in the event of a crash, or manually via an in-car button, with the current location to ensure an appropriate response. A trained operator will call through to the vehicle while emergency services are dispatched.
  • Land Rover Assist Call - in the event of a breakdown, an in-car button is provided to contact a trained Land Rover Assist operator, automatically providing the current location to ensure the optimal response time.
  • InControl App - provides a solution for Apple or Android smartphones enabling customers to locate their vehicle (and get directions back to their car), check fuel level and range, and see any alerts (e.g. Washer Fluid Low). Customers can also log all their journeys and have them automatically e-mailed to them, to enable company expenses to be completed. The App also allows customers to locate their preferred or nearest dealer, manage theft alerts or contact Land Rover Assist (if they are no longer with their vehicle).
  • Stolen Vehicle Tracking - in the event of a suspected break-in to their vehicle, customers will automatically receive a notification. If the vehicle has been stolen, customers confirm this with Land Rover's secure operating centre which will coordinate with local enforcement authorities to track, immobilise and recover the vehicle.
  • Wi-Fi Hotspot - provides a high bandwidth Wi-Fi hotspot so passengers can use the internet on smartphones and tablets from a single data contract. The hotspot uses the antenna on the roof to deliver excellent connectivity.

For contrast, a body-color grille surround and Gloss Black fuel-filler door are added, while all-new 20 x 8-inch polished-face aluminum wheels with black pockets and a satin "matte" clear coat feature a sculptured five-spoke design. For added detail, "Shaker" badges flank both sides of the hood scoop, while "HEMI" fender badges and a new "Challenger" grille badge in classic script completes the iconic exterior.

In addition to its driver-selectable sport-mode powertrain calibration, performance-tuned suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and steering calibration, the 2014 Dodge Challenger RT Shaker includes the Super Track Pak, with high-performance steering gear, brake linings and monotube shock absorbers, P245/45R20 Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car three-season tires and three-mode electronic stability control (ESC) with "full off" mode. All-season performance tires are available at no extra charge.
